New house, old house: at 92 and 89, they’ve seen their affordable neighborhood become unaffordable.  The new now: track hammers + mini-mansions = double incomes required.

This was an average middle-class neighborhood. The houses were brick, mass production… built 10 years after the war. They sold for $15,000 then. Now a house went for $300,000. And then we look at this house that they’re building. It’s amazing, they are even blasting. It took one whole week just to clear the trees. They’re working here 3 or 4 months. The cost is amazing.
